Deacons

Rebekah Logan
Deaconess of Children’s Ministry (The Grove)
Rebekah came to saving faith in college through the faithful ministry of friends, and the power of the Word. After graduation, she moved to Charlotte for her career, and joined Oakhurst Baptist Church, which had only recently been replanted. Rebekah says “OBC has been my family, the people who witnessed my baptism, meeting my husband, and my marriage to him. They have loved and encouraged me through different seasons of life, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve this congregation in return as deaconness of The Grove.” In her spare time, Rebekah enjoys baking bread, gardening, hiking, Bible study, and movie marathons with her husband, Ian.

Roy & Lisa Britton
Deacon/Deaconess of Member Care
Roy came to Christ at the age of 31 and quickly found a love for the Word. Roy went on to spend a total of three years as an overseas missionary in Russia with the Navigators in the late 90’s. After settling in the Atlanta area, as a 46-year-old bachelor Roy met and married Lisa, a beautiful widow with three children.
Lisa Britton is a Charlotte native. She came to faith in Jesus Christ as a child. She attended college in Atlanta, GA., graduating with a BA in Art. Lisa worked in youth and college ministry during college and afterwards was a youth intern, then youth director at a church in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, she met and married her first husband, had 3 children and then was widowed in 2002. She met Roy in 2004 through their church and they were married in 2006. After a total of 27 years in Atlanta for Lisa, she and Roy moved back to Charlotte so Roy could complete a Seminary degree at RTS Charlotte and also be close to Lisa’s parents and other family members. Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing watercolors and photography and a good cup of hot tea!
They started attending Oakhurst in summer of 2016 and joined OBC in January 2017 and have been heavily involved since joining. Between the two of them, they have served in the Food Pantry, Parking Team, teaching Equipping hour, children’s ministry, facilitating and participating in bible studies and much more! As they move into this role as deacon and deaconess of member care, Roy would like to serve all the members of Oakhurst through prayer and care, and especially keep in touch with the more senior members of the church. Lisa likewise desires to serve the members of OBC by encouraging and praying for them, facilitating the members in serving each other well and growing in faithfulness in her own walk with Christ as she serves as deaconess.
